Finland: First Semi-final Tonight
9 Ocak 2009
One Comment
Tonight begins the Finnish selection for their Eurovision entry to represent the country in Moscow this May. After their first win in 2006 with Lordi, they placed 17th in 2007 and qualified out of Semi Final 1 last year to land 22nd in the final.
The four songs that will be performed tonight are:
1. Kwan – “10.000 light years”
2. Riika – “Meren”
3. Tapani Kansa – “Rakkautta on, rauhaa ei”
4. Tiara – “Manala”
You can listen to the songs in advance here. Two of the acts tonight will qualify to the final. If information on YLE’s webcast for the show at 20.00 CET (21.00 local time) for viewers outside of Finland is released we will let you know.

The only thing I am unhappy about the Eurovision Song Contest is that the use of English, in the Eurovision Song Contest increases year by year.
As a native English speaker I think this is unfair!
It’s certainly time to break the habit of “language imperialism”, in the Eurovision Song Contest, and use a song, sung in Esperanto instead!
This is a serious suggestion, as you can see from the Esperanto music which is already available at http://www.vinilkosmo.com/?prs=listen or at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8837438938991452670
There’s even cheesy Esperanto music available! See http://www.ipernity.com/home/56084
