Georgia: Yes to the Eurovision 2009
Natiya Uznadze, the Georgian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest, stated that the country has changed their decision not to participate in the festival held in Moscow next May. According to several Georgian and Russian media, the national broadcaster of Georgia decided that the country will join again the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, following many requests from the event organizers and from the EBU/UER. “We have agreed to participate”, said N. Uznadze to RBC.
After the conflict with Russia, Georgian government decided to withdraw from any Eurovision events taking place in Moscow. The victory Georgia achieved in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest especially since they took the ”friendly” 12 points from Russia opened new doors for the relations between both countries. We expect the official announcement from EBU/UER.
