Turkish broadcaster TRT has finally decided that Hadise will be representing them at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow next May. The broadcaster, which has selected internally for the past three years, will make the announcement official in a press conference next week, if not before.

The director general of TRT, İbrahim Şahin, was very excited with the prospect of Hadise enterting, despite admitting that he’s never actually met her before! ”I’ve watched her performances. Her shows are very good and she also has a very nice accent in English and other languages as she was born in Belgium. She also has very good sponsors; EMI is one of them. That means that Turkey will be promoted very well, and so it will also mean some extra income for TRT.”

Hadise shot to fame after entering the Belgian version of the well-known show Pop Idol. Aged just 17 she did not go on to make the semifinals, let alone win, but she impressed music producer Johan Hendrick so much that he signed her up. More recently, her song “Deli Oğlan” is currently a huge hit in Turkey. In April of this year it was also announced that Hadise will host the Belgian version of the talent show X-Factor.
