Lithuania: first quarter-final songs revealed
Lithuanian broadcaster will start the Lithuanian Song Contest, Lietuvos Dainų Daina, this Saturday, 10 January. The website eurodiena.lt says the official announcement of the country’s participation in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest will follow this week but says that “at this time we can be almost assured that LRT will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest”.
The 12 participants of the first quarter-final are:
69 danguje – Meilės simfonija
Alanas – Geras jausmas
Augustė – Not the best time
Darius Pranckevičius and Violeta Valskytė – Nelytėta viltis
Egidijus Sipavičius – Per mažai
Jonas Čepulis and Skirmantė – Uosilėli žaliasai
Kamilė – No way to run
Milana – Ar tu mane matei
Sasha Son – Pasiklydęs žmogus
Vilius Tarasovas – Aš tik tavim tikiu
Violeta Tarasovienė – Aš būsiu šalia

4 to 6 songs voted by the public will go on to the two semi-finals from each of the three quarter-finals. The final will be held on February 14th. The winner of the contest will be given the chance to represent Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow if the broadcaster LRT will eventually decide to take part. As reported earlier, LRT was uncertain whether they could take part owing to the broadcaster’s financial difficulties.
The recent winner of popular Lithuanian TV show Muzikos akademija, Ruslanas Kirilkinas, has also now withdrawn from taking part in the Lithuanian national final. Ruslanas was also a semi-finalist in the Finnish edition of Idols in 2007. He has been replaced by Vita Rusaitytė
The dates of the three quarter-finals are January 10th, 17th & 24th and of the two semi-finals January 31st & February 7th.
The first quarter-final is on LTV main channel at 20.00 CET and also at the same time on Satellite channel LTV World.
