Andrew Lloyd-Webber has picked American songwriter Diane Warren to pen Britain’s Eurovision entry, leaving some industry insiders upset that he did not choose a British writer.
Lord Lloyd-Webber announced on Saturday’s BBC One show ‘Your Country Needs You’, that Warren will write the lyrics to accompany the music that he will compose.

Damien became the first of the UK’s six Eurovision hopefuls to have his dream shattered as Andrew Lloyd Webber chose him to leave the competition in the first live show tonight.
A public vote saw Charlotte and Damien put in the ‘Danger Zone’ having received the fewest votes. Given the option of which artist to keep in the competition, Andrew Lloyd Webber chose to save 17-year-old Charlotte. The rankings of the top four in the public vote are not made public.

Yesterday evening both myself and Emma went up to television centre to watch the dress rehearsal for ”Your Country Needs You”. Unfortunately we can’t say too much, as all members of the audience were required to sign confidentiality forms before the show started!
What I will say is that each of the acts performed a song on their own, but the titles of the songs they sang cannot be revealed. Some were better than others, but overall they are all much better than last year’s national final. Lemar was not there …
