PBS held a press conference this afternoon / evening to discuss certain details regarding the National Final to take place on the 7th February at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali. It was previously announced that during the night there will be 100% Voting from a Judging Panel who will choose three finalists who will take compete against each other in a Super-Final in which the results will be chosen by 100% Tele-Voting.

Moments ago, Sophia Paraskeva and Alex Michael concluded the first part of the draw for the running order of the 2009 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The producers will tonight decided upon the exact final running order. Sophia Paraskeva and Alex Michael will also host the contest on the 22nd of November. Cyprus was lucky enough to draw the 15th and last spot, while the Romanian contestant will open the show.

On Sunday 12th October Sounds Like Teen Spirit: A Popumentary will be premiered at the Film Festival of Ghent. The movie was shot during the final of Junior Eurosong 2007 in Belgium and at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. Following Azerbaijan’s resent withdrawal from the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the Azerbaijan Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company have been fined by the European Broadcasting Union. Under EBU rules any country which withdraws after a specific date laid down by the broadcasting organisation, will be fined and the participation fee will be retained by the EBU.

In May, a record number of participating countries was announced by the European Broadcasting Union, but in the end, only fifteen countries will be taking part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008.
