Malta will continue its search for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest tonight with the eighth and last semi final being held. Another seven acts will compete to be one of the 20 acts which are going to reach in the national final. The qualifiers for the national final will also be revealed in the show.

Seven songs will be presented tonight. Out of the total of 56 songs in the eight semi finals, an expert jury will select 15 songs for the national final …

The first two finalists for the Finnish selection for Moscow have been decided after the first semi final tonight.
The qualifying songs are:
Kwan – “10.000 light years” – you can listen here
Tapani Kansa – “Rakkautta on, rauhaa ei” – you can listen here
The other two entries; Riika – “Meren” and Tiara – “Manala” will continue on to the second chance round.  The second semi final will take place next Friday.

Lithuanian broadcaster will start the Lithuanian Song Contest, Lietuvos Dainų Daina, this Saturday, 10 January. The website eurodiena.lt says the official announcement of the country’s participation in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest will follow this week but says that “at this time we can be almost assured that LRT will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest”.

It’s Tuesday 20th May and for the very first time, the first of two Eurovision Song Contest semi finals will take place. 19 countries will battle for a place in Saturday night’s final. Nine will be put through by the televotes of viewers in the participating countries along with Spain and Germany from the big four.
